The Sea Cubby, Private Holiday Lodge, Portling.

The Sea Cubby is a unique wee holiday lodge overlooking the Solway Firth. It is perched just above the waves with the most beautiful views across Portling Bay to the white sands of Merse Head nature reserve. The Lodge is not in a holiday park it stands alone with it's own private driveway, parking and garden. It’s so quiet, a retreat to escape and relax, by sitting watching and listening to the waves. The Lodge has a large glass roofed deck. Well behaved dogs are considered, please ask first.

Jessie Hut, Wild Oak Woods Eco-campsite

Wild Oak Woods Eco-campsite offers a truly back to nature experience and is a great place for wildlife watching The campsite sits in a hidden valley surrounded by hills and trees, half a mile from Sandyhills bay beach. A wood burner makes the hut snug and warm even in sub zero temperatures and you will have use of the facilities block showers and kitchen by booking a time slot. At Wild Oak Woods we are passionate about providing holidays in the most environmentally friendly way we can.

Cosy self-contained town centre hideaway

At '235' you will have your own private space to enjoy day or night. The comfortable sofa bed can be made up ready for your arrival or left as a sofa for you to relax. Staying in the centre of town, close to takeaways, a brewery, galleries, shops, park and Carlingwalk Loch. Facilities include a 50" smart tv, fridge, microwave, kettle, coffee machine, table and chairs. Free WiFi. On street parking outside the property. I am happy to share local knowledge - places to visit, walk, eat and swim.

All of our Barend Holiday Lodges guests can enjoy our indoor heated swimming pool and sauna, as well as a free 9-hole round of golf at our great local par 3 Craigieknowes golf course.

The 'Dragons Lodge' is a beautiful Scandinavian Log House set with others within 36 acres of parkland approximately 800 yards from the unspoilt beach at Sandyhills Bay. Balconies offer stunning views across the Solway Firth. Furnished to an excellent standard this is the perfect base for a relaxing holiday. The biking and walking trails of Mabie and Dalbeattie Forest (7stanes) are close by. Colvend golf course is free to lodge guests. The area is recognised dark sky area.

The Stables is a quirky conversion on what was once a strawberry picking farm. Set within 30 acres of beautiful pastoral farmland the cottage is a peaceful rural retreat. A stones throw from some of Scotland's finest unspoiled and quiet beaches and within driving distance of all of the 7stanes mounting biking trails for those looking for a little more adventure.

Welcome to our tranquil hand-built shepherd's hut by the sea in Southerness. Explore the stunning Solway Coast, then return to relax in the wood-fired hot tub or sauna. Inside, enjoy the cozy log burner, breakfast bar, and garden games room. Crafted with care by your host, it's a unique coastal escape designed for cherished memories.

The Well

The Well is a modern single storey contemporary cottage which was built in 2024, finished to luxury standards and with stunning views over open farmland to the Solway Firth and Lake District hills Well is so called because it is across the road from Mainsriddle’s public water pump, but don’t worry the cottage has mains water!
