Duration: 45 mins [00:00 - 00:20] — Basics of Japanese Sake and Honkaku Shochu [00:20 - 00:30] — Enjoyment through Sake Vessels [00:30 - 00:45] — Sake and Shochu Tasting The Japan Sake and Shochu Information Center; is a PR facility of the Japanese Sake and Shochu Makers Association, with the purpose of introducing the entire charm of Japanese Sake, Honkaku Shochu, and Awamori to people worldwide through seeing, touching, and experiencing their history and culture. The facility features symbolic items related to Japanese national alcoholic beverages, including large wooden barrel displays and various tools, along with exhibitions of sake vessels from various regions. Visitors can also sample approximately 100 varieties of Japanese sake, Honkaku Shochu, and Mirin which items change almost every month. For Airbnb experience, we have prepared a special sake and shochu tasting course led by the Center's director.

Showa retro tour in Jimbocho

Let’s go on a walking journey through Tokyo’s unique streets and alleyways where Showa retro—a time period that shaped much of Japan’s modern identity—comes alive. I’ll show you some of my favorite coffee shops, vintage record stores, and drinking spots. • After meeting at Jimbocho station, we’ll walk to a kissaten, an old-style Japanese coffeehouse, and the beating heart of Showa retro Japan. This enduring blend of Western coffee culture and 1960s and ’70s sensibilities provides the perfect backdrop to chat about this vibrant period in Japan’s history. • Next, I’ll lead you to some of my favorite shops in Jimbocho for vintage goods, vinyl records, stationery, and retro magazines, where you can shop until Japan’s groovy past belongs to you. • Eat at a yoshoku restaurant, a western-influenced style of fusion cooking, where you’ll taste some of the most authentic dishes and wash them down with a tasty beverage. Get a unique glimpse into the Showa era, learn how to spot retro signs and buildings, and take home a few pieces you can’t find anywhere else.

LET'S GET OUT OF THE TOURIST AREA where it is overpriced and crowded with tourists! This tour focuses on Ueno, which is not as crowded as Shibuya, Shinjuku and is less touristy. It’s popular with the Japanese for eating and drinking at any time. I'm going to take you to popular taverns and restaurants for ONLY LOCALS (NO TOURISTS!!) where the staff speaks only Japanese. I will order signature dishes and please ask me any questions. I’ll discuss not only Japanese food and drinks but also culture, traditions and history, which will be beneficial for the rest of your stay in Japan for sure! We will visit several restaurants/taverns/bar in total, where you will sample sashimi, grilled fish and skewered meat, etc. You will also have the opportunity to try UNIQUE Japanese alcoholic drinks! (5 or more different type of drinks) You'll be able to experience what Japanese taverns are like. After visiting these three taverns, we will end the tour at a great Ramen shop that is popular with locals. Just like a sushi chef, you’ll experience the art of cutting fresh fish and crafting sushi with your own hands. (I highly recommend this experience to learn more about sushi before going to a fancy sushi restaurant) This tour consists of two part. First, we will walk around Tsukiji fish market where I will explain about fish in general. Second part is, you will experience sushi making, you can make your own sushi!
