New York City's mahjong scene has been blowing up recently, but you have to know where to look to find yourself at a table. Join me in my Brooklyn photo studio, where I’ve gathered many friends to learn and play mahjong, and I’ll teach you the ins and outs of this ancient game. • Once you settle in, I’ll pour tea for everyone and tell you a little bit about the game's history. Then I’ll walk you through the basic game—aka chicken hand—rules. • Next, start up a game! I’m prepared to teach total beginners, answering questions and offering guidance throughout. If folks catch on quick or already have some familiarity, I can teach / play the more advanced Hong Kong points-style game. • As you play, I’ll document our gathering with a 3D film camera that creates unique, holographic GIFs. Journey through Harlem with me—a historian and CUNY professor—as I share untold stories of how African immigrants have helped shape the borough’s history and culture. • We’ll start at the Malcolm Shabazz Harlem Market, an artisan market that serves as a cultural and economic hub for the African immigrant community. • Next, we’ll explore Little Senegal, a vibrant testament to the growing African presence in Harlem, where I’ll highlight key figures and events that shaped this neighborhood’s significance. • Additional stops along our tour will include the iconic and still thriving Apollo Theater, as well as other cultural landmarks that showcase the lasting connection between Harlem and the African diaspora. At the end of our walk, you’ll have gotten a rare glimpse into Harlem’s history and the important role African immigrants have played in its development. You’ll also receive a copy of my book, Africans in Harlem: An Untold New York Story, to continue exploring what you’ve learned.

The Lower East Side has a rich music history and heavy concentration of record shops with hard-to-find records. Join me in visting some of my favorites. • We’ll meet in the East Village, at a former landmark record destination. Where I’ll share some music history on the neighborhood, nightlife and vinyl community. • Then head to Ergot Records, where I’ll share a little about my work as a DJ and record shop owner, and then we’ll start digging! • As we explore the neighborhood, I’ll recommend other great shops and music destinations (based on your taste), and talk about how the landscape of record stores (& neighborhoods) in this city have evolved. • We’ll end up at Duty Free Records, where I’ll walk you through my curated collection. Then we’ll have a private listening session—diving into to the albums you’ve just picked up, some of my favorites, or just vibe to whatever you’d like (vinyl preferred). You’ll leave knowing where to pick up new treasures from the shops we visit, plus my tried & true recommendations of where to have the best digs, drinks, bites, and musical experiences.

Catacombs by Candlelight "vip experience"

Meet me in Little Italy/NOLITA for a real New York City tour experience unlike any other to explore the off-limits graveyards and catacombs of Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral, the city’s first and oldest. Cornerstone laid in 1809, it’s home to the remains of many prominent Catholic New Yorkers. • I’ll greet you with a coffee or beverage of your choice from a local cafe before we visit the McCloskey Room in the Basilica Parish House to view rare artifacts uncovered during the restoration of 2013. • Explore the Chapel Altagracia, a hidden gem rarely open to the public, before heading to the basilica’s graveyards, which were established in 1800 and predate the church. • Descend into the catacombs to view the passages of crypts, vaults and sarcophagi of notable New Yorkers, including the Delmonico restaurant family, Honest John Kelly from Tammany Hall and Brigadier General Thomas T. Breaking workshop inspired by NYC’s hip-hop culture

Discover the world of hip-hop dance, focusing on iconic moves that originated in New York City, in this engaging break-dancing class with me, Kid Glyde, a crew member of the Dynamic Rockers. • We’ll start with a dynamic warm-up to build strength and flexibility before I lead you in an in-depth breaking lesson, with multiple technique variations learned from some of the greats. • You’ll put on gear that represents New York’s hip-hop culture from the ’80s, and practice your creative exercises solo and with a partner. • We’ll wrap up with a freestyle and battle, where you’ll take what you learned and put your new skills to the test. You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for breaking as an art form, and unforgettable memories from our workshop.

As a New Yorker, I’ve lived in all 5 Boroughs of NYC. However, my birthplace was Harlem. Thus, I will show you the place dear to my heart – the village of Harlem. This unique, soulful walking experience will occur in one of four sections of Harlem - Central Harlem. This section was the Heart and Soul of the Harlem Renaissance and the Civil Rights movement in America. Our journey will begin with a birds-eye view of 125th Street looking westward – this will give us a photographic preview of some of the locations we will visit. We will then walk to the former homes of the Harlem Renaissance central figures, Langston Hughes, Madam C.J. Walker, James W. Johnson, etc. On this 10,000-step journey, we will pass several Harlem murals that capsulize Harlem’s glorious past. We will also see where Martin Luther King spoke, suffered a near-death experience, and was hospitalized. Two places of particular interest will be explored – the Harlem Jazz Museum (Thurs-Sat only) & the Schomburg Library for African Studies (Mon-Sat). At the Schomburg, we will see a mosaic cosmogram containing the ashes of Langston Hughes underneath it. To round out our experience, we will walk upon Harlem’s “Walk of Fame;” and see monuments of Civil Rights trailblazers and the famous Sylvia’s Restaurant, named after the “Queen of Soul Food” Sylvia Woods. I’m looking forward to meeting you and your guests.

Immerse yourself in the energy of the world's premier financial hub, home to the legendary New York Stock Exchange, one of the oldest tavern, and a centuries-old church that has witnessed the city's transformation. We’ll pause at an iconic cafe. A quick subway ride transports us to the artistic havens of SoHo, and Little Italy’s modern vibe, NoLita. Our journey culminates in Midtown, where you'll be awestruck by the celestial ceiling of Grand Central Terminal, the intellectual grandeur of the New York Public Library, and the urban oasis of Bryant Park. Throughout our three-and-a-half-mile expedition, designed to be accessible for all with its gentle, level terrain, you're journey will be photographed by us. Should this time slot not align with your schedule, I'm happy to explore alternative arrangements that better suit your needs.

So do not book if you are solo traveler. Thank you. My team is ready to give you an unforgettable tour experience! We’ve been leading Central Park tricycle tours since 2011, so you can trust that we know every corner and hidden gem of the park. This tour is best suited to the first-time visitors to Central Park. We'll share deep knowledge of Central Park, history, movie locations and celebrity homes. Stop at the most famous places and take pictures while explaining the significance. Enjoy 3 stops to go for a walk at the most beautiful spots: The Bethesda Fountain, Bow Bridge and Strawberry Fields. In warm months you can also extend regular tour for second hour to see more of the park. Price is double and you can pay in cash for second hour. Just let us know beforehand if you want to extend for second hour. Other things to note: It is recommended that you book at the beginning of your vacation. **This food tour has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Gothamist, The Star Tribune, and on NY1!** We'll spend 3-3.5 hours walking and eating our way through 5-6 of the "countries" represented here in Jackson Heights, where there are huge South Asian and South American populations. This tour is unique in that you can travel the world via food, and with minimal walking, from India to Tibet to Colombia! Tastings are substantial and sourced from small local eateries. It's a great experience for groups large and small, whether you're on a team-building tour or celebrating a birthday. There's a good chance you haven't eaten some of this food before! My guests are always pleasantly surprised by what we eat. It's my hope you'll leave with renewed appreciation for the cuisine of different cultures, and further inspiration to eat with curiosity. This food tour is a mix of outdoor and indoor stops. Note 1: If you don't see the date/time you want listed, please message me. I typically run 2-4 tours a week, but handle most bookings off of this platform, so not all dates are listed. Note 2: Weekend tours reliably run 3.5 hours and tend to be bigger groups. We continue to Brooklyn Heights and the promenade – made famous by many movies and TV Shows. After our quick tour of Brooklyn, we start our walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. This is where we will see the best views of the Manhattan skyline, so keep your camera handy! Once we have crossed over the bridge we head into Lower Manhattan. You will see a lot in this area; China Town, Little Italy, 5 points, 9/11 memorial, Ground Zero, Woolworth Building, City Hall, Wall St & The NY Stock Exchange and much more! Our last stop is Battery Park. Located on the southern tip of Manhattan, this is where the ferries and boats arrive to take passengers to the Statue of Liberty & Staten Island. The 30-minute Staten Island ferry is free to all to use and it gives incredible views of The Statue of Liberty
