Our one-hour walking tour features a curated selection of three to four top galleries, highlighting painting, sculpture, and design along the way. • Depending on the route, you might visit galleries like Karma Gallery, Jeffrey Deitch, or Carpenter's Workshop Gallery, among others. • At select stops, you’ll have the rare opportunity to hear directly from gallery directors, gaining insider perspectives on the featured artists and their work. • Reflect on the tour with fellow art enthusiasts at our final stop, a nearby coffee shop. You’ll explore the rich artistic tapestry of West Hollywood, with insights into the art, architecture, and cultural significance of each space we visit.

A set designer’s antique treasure hunt

Follow me into one of LA’s most iconic flea markets, Melrose Trading Post, where I’ll lean on my experience as a fashion industry set designer to help you score one-of-a-kind finds. Melrose Trading Post is my go-to spot to scour for items to use on set — each antique, artwork, and memorabilia here tells a unique story about LA’s history and identity. • We’ll make our way over to the market. After giving you the lay of the land, you’ll be sent on an unconventional scavenger hunt where you might look for anything from a creepy doll to the “ugliest” item. Cheesy prizes included. • You’ll be introduced to some of the vendors I personally frequent. I know how to find the perfect items at the best prices and will give you pointers. At the end of the tour, you’ll leave with a novel find to keep forever. I’ll also give you local recommendations so you can explore beyond the flea market.

Tour LACMA's iconic lights & outdoor art w an LA arts writer

Step into the heart of Los Angeles’ artistic landscape with me, a longtime arts & culture journalist, editor and producer, on a two-hour walk through LACMA’s outdoor masterpieces weaving together art, architecture, and cultural history. • Meet at LACMA's masterpiece Michael Heizer’s Levitated Mass, a giant boulder placed above a viewing pathway. I’ll share engaging stories behind these world-renowned artists and their works. • I’ll lead you to some of LACMA’s most awe-inspiring (and photographable!) installations, including Robert Irwin’s Primal Palm Garden, Bruce Goff’s swooping Pavilion for Japanese Art, and Ai Weiwei’s large-scale bronze animal Zodiac Sculptures. • End at Chris Burden’s Urban Light, a large-scale assemblage of restored street lamps from the 1920s and 1930s, with a dynamic discussion of what you’ve seen, which we can continue at local food truck favorites just across the street. You’ll leave with deep insights into the city’s ever-changing cultural landscape, and some spectacular photos of modern art from Los Angeles.

Join art historian Nancy Real at The Getty Center for a 90-minute exclusive art tour! We'll begin our tour by viewing the center’s modernist buildings designed by architect Richard Meier. As we stroll through the galleries, we will explore the museum’s permanent collection (the museum’s original artworks) through viewing and conversation. We will view some of the following masters' works: Titian, Rembrandt, Gianlorenzo Bernini, Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh. This is an exclusive experience given that Nancy's background is in Art History. Nancy worked in the Education Department of the J. Paul Getty Museum for 20+ years and is a specialist regarding the museum’s collection. If you don't see the date/time you'd like please request it! I limit this to 2 people in my home studio (unless you book a private group in which I can accommodate up to 4) so it’s likely you’ll have a private lesson! If booking for four please plan to stay an extra 30-60 minutes. I’m also available to come to you or your event in order to host larger groups/parties - please message to discuss. You will produce at least one, but most likely between 2-3 sterling silver, brass or gold (for an additional fee) stacking rings to wear home. You'll learn about the tools and equipment and how to size, saw, solder, shape, hammer and polish sterling silver using tools such as a caliper, jewelers saw, files, hammers, a butane torch and a flex shaft among others. First, we measure your finger and the length of sterling silver wire we'll need to use. You'll then saw the wire, form and prepare it for soldering, seal the joint with a torch, shape it into a perfect fitting ring with a hammer and mandrel and file and polish until it's ready to wear. We will do this as many times as possible- time permitting. I’m happy to share resources for setting up your very own jewelry studio after falling in love with your new skill set. Please let me know if you would prefer to work in 10K or 14K solid gold at an additional cost.
